UCF QB Situation Analysis: Mikey Keene vs. JRP (Insider Notes)
After Keene has helped UCF win 2 straight games, do we have a QB controversy on our hands? Will Keene continue to start or will Coach Malzahn go back to JRP?
Do we officially have a QB controversy on our hands?
UCF had a very well-known quarterback battle prior to the season that was one of the biggest preseason storylines.
Well, it appears we may have that same QB battle just a couple months later.
With starter John Rhys Plumlee suffering a concussion 2 weeks ago that knocked him out of the game vs. Cincinnati and forced him to miss last week’s contest against Memphis, Mikey Keene has taken over the QB1 role.
And after leading the Knights to 2 wins in 2 games and looking really good in the process, the QB battle has seemingly opened back up again with the critical home stretch of the season upon us.
With JRP reportedly healthy and cleared to play now, Gus Malzahn has another huge decision to make prior to the #22 Knights monumental top 25 matchup against #17 Tulane this weekend.
Does he stick with the hot hand of Mikey Keene or go back to JRP, his starter for most of the season?
Let’s take a look at both quarterbacks and examine the situation.
